About me

Arvid E. Gollwitzer builds tools to decode and program biology. He works at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, MIT’s Langer & Traverso Labs, and ETH Zurich. His research spans clinical genomics, metagenomics, medical computing, drug delivery and early cancer detection. He develops experimental and computational systems that make biological analysis orders of magnitude more efficient. In 2025 he co‑founded Anto Biosciences, a Y Combinator‑backed company building multimodal foundation models for microbial communities. Anto’s models predict how drugs interact with the gut microbiome and suggest molecule modifications so that drugs work for any patient. Arvid is supported by the Swiss Study Foundation and has received awards for entrepreneurial excellence. Through his research, ventures and teaching he aims to translate innovations in computational biology into tools that impact human health.
